Sammy James is sixteen, Coventry Weavers' youngest player to train regularly with the U21 group, and the subject of a growing amount of attention neither he nor his family asked for.
Terry Aldous, a former non-league player now in his fifties, has no connection to the club or the James family, but has been a regular presence at U21 sessions in recent months, and has given gifts to Sammy on at least two occasions that staff are aware of.
Coventry Weavers' academy welfare officer flagged the pattern in writing to the club's designated safeguarding lead as soon as it was identified, and Terry's access to the training ground has now been formally restricted pending a full review — the standard, correct process for exactly this kind of concern.
The club has declined to comment further while the review is ongoing, which is itself the right call. Sammy, for his part, is being kept well away from the process and is continuing to train normally.
