Ryan Fenwick and Danny Pearce have been best friends since they were seven, on the same Newcastle estate, long before either of them had any reason to think one of them would end up here.
Ryan travels with Danny most matchdays now, sits in on more conversations than almost anyone else in his life, and has, without ever formally asking for the role, become the person Danny runs most spending decisions past.
Danny's actual financial advisor has raised concerns twice this year about purchases made on Ryan's say-so that never reached her desk first. Danny's response both times was some version of: Fizz has never once let him down.
That's true, as far as anyone can tell. It's also not really the question anyone's asking.
