Fraser Gilchrist met Dean Okonkwo-Price through a mutual friend eighteen months ago. Dean is well known on Glasgow's private betting-circuit scene, though not, as far as anyone at the club can establish, in any official capacity at all.
Fraser has always maintained he only ever watches — that the appeal is the company and the room, not the stakes changing hands in it, which by several accounts run well beyond what a spectator would need to know.
National tabloid reporter Vanessa Kray has been working a source close to Glasgow Union's dressing room for several weeks. Her last two questions to the club's press office didn't name Fraser or Dean directly, but described their circumstances closely enough that the club is now treating a story as close to inevitable.
Fraser's own agent has started preparing a statement, just in case. Fraser says he hasn't done anything wrong. Whether that ends up mattering to how the story lands is a separate question entirely.
