Deborah Aske's weekday phone-in carries the largest audience of any football radio show in the country, and lately, almost without her steering it, it's become the main public venue for one story above all others: the growing Alliance-tier movement known as “the 75 turn on the 25.”
Deborah lets callers run long rather than cutting them off, and in recent weeks that's meant hour after hour dominated by Alliance Division supporters airing grievances that used to stay confined to local forums.
An Elite Division club's press office formally requested equal airtime after three consecutive shows leaned heavily toward Alliance callers. Deborah declined, on the simple grounds that she answers the phones in the order they ring, and lately, that's who's calling.
Whether that's neutral or itself a kind of amplification is a question several Elite Division clubs are now asking out loud.
